6-2 Root Causes

Audio Transcript:

I am Dr. Peter Theron.
I am running for Congress to solve problems and restore civility.

Once again the death of a black man has triggered nationwide protests.
And once again those protests have become riots. And those rioters aren’t Republicans.

Let’s look at root causes.

Inner cities are islands of socialism and failed government programs amidst a sea of prosperity. A two-term African-American President did not unify us.

Democrats have run American Cities for a century.
Their government programs have an almost unblemished record of failure.
They promote class division and racial animosity.
Face it, Democrats are bad for cities.

Impeachment and congressional obstruction are their policy. That includes our incumbent.

Want things to change? Change parties and people.

Let us restore America together.

5-27 High-Trust Society

Audio Transcript:

I am Dr. Peter Theron.
I am running for Congress to solve problems and restore civility.

There are two ways to achieve civility.
One way is oppression.
Oppressed peoples can’t complain.

The better way is a high-trust society.
If Americans can trust our courts to be just,
trust our lawmakers to represent us,
trust most people will respect the law,
and trust that we can respectfully resolve our differences,
then we will have civility.

Most people consider Congress broken.
Congress hasn’t fixed health care,
hasn’t protected our borders,
hasn’t cleared the way for small business,
hasn’t reduced government’s involvement in our lives,
and hasn’t improved civility by meeting America’s expectations.

The incumbent hasn’t championed these changes, I will.

Let us restore civility as we reopen America together. Join me.

5-19 Memorial Day

Audio Transcript:

I am Dr. Peter Theron.
I am running for Congress to solve problems and restore civility.

Over one million three hundred and twenty thousand Americans
have died to secure our freedom.
That equals 22 Vietnam War Memorials.
We honor their sacrifice this Memorial Day.

Some were Democrats, some were Republicans. Most were just kids.

In the silence of our national cemeteries here and American Cemeteries around the world,
let’s remember our duty to preserve the liberty that they have won for us.

Today, again we face a common foe.
As we defeat this latest enemy, let us resolve not to return to political camps.
Let us look past labels to solve problems together whenever and wherever we can.
Let us restore civility as we reopen America together.

5-12 Reopen Wisconsin

Audio Transcript:

I am Dr. Peter Theron.
I am running for Congress to solve problems and restore civility.

Let’s begin reopening Wisconsin now.

However fearsome the coronavirus was in March, we now know much more about its risks.

With federal financial rescue and well-capitalized banks, we have preserved an economic foundation for 8 weeks. But during this time, the lock-down has destroyed many small businesses, increased joblessness, and taken a physical and mental toll on all of us.

The Governor must work with the Legislature to reopen our state — safely and swiftly. Keep us fully informed and we can manage the risks. Summer sun, meaningful work, and an end to the lock-down are healthy too.

The farmers are planting their fields. We must replant our lives.

As we solve problems together, civility will return. Let’s reopen Wisconsin together.

5-5 Pandemic Preparedness

Audio Transcript:

I am Dr. Peter Theron.
I am running for Congress to solve problems and restore civility.

When this pandemic appeared, our government wasn’t prepared. It wasn’t prepared for the Great Recession, for 911, or for Pearl Harbor.

Why not?

Politicians like to promise new programs. But maybe the job of government isn’t to “bring home the bacon.” Maybe our government should focus on things only it can do.

Our government can prepare for pandemics with secure borders, stockpiles of critical equipment and supplies, and pandemic-resistant zoning;
prepare for physical threats with a strong military; and
prepare for economic threats by strengthening our economy, streamlining bureaucracy, and paying off debt.

As a your representative in Congress, I will focus on being prepared.

As we solve problems together, civility will return. Let’s rebuild America together.

4-28 Pandemic Lessons

What have we learned from this pandemic?

We’ve learned globalization is risky.
Disease can arise anywhere and be in America in a few days.
Foreign suppliers will supply their own nations first.

We’ve learned reserves are critical.
Our banks have adequate reserves, that’s why they haven’t collapsed.
Our private health-care system had reserves.
But, our government stockpiles had been depleted and not replenished.

What do we do from here?

We need universal health-savings accounts to pay for our future medical care.
Critical equipment and supplies must be produced in America.
People and Businesses should be able to build financial and physical reserves,
without tax penalty.

As we solve problems together, civility will return. Work with me.

4-14 Never Trust Government, Chinese Style

Audio Transcript:

I am Dr. Peter Theron.
I am running for Congress to solve problems and restore civility.

Around the world – how well are governments handling this Pandemic?

Italy and Britain with their government-run health systems
and slow responses have had terrible results.

Taiwan after warning the world last December of a possible Pandemic
has kept its openness and is doing well.

Then we have China, ruled by a Communist party with a president for life.
It covered up,
denied the disease started in Wuhan,
lied about its transmissibility,
tried to deflect responsibility,
and disappeared doctors, and others who told the truth. China lied; people died.

Is government required to fight this Pandemic? Absolutely!
But when governments make bad decisions and when socialist health-care systems dominate,
people and patients come second.

As we solve problems together, civility will return. Work with me.

3-31 Never Trust Government, American Style

Audio Transcript:

During a crisis, we learn how well our government works.

The 2008 financial crisis allowed the previous administration to railroad Obamacare into law. The Speaker of the House stated “we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it”. They passed it and we suffer it.

During the H1N1 pandemic, 1,000 people died before the previous administration declared a public-health emergency. That Administration drew down our N95 mask stockpile and failed to authorize the shovel-ready job of replenishment. Now, our doctors and nurses suffer.

Last week, during this pandemic, the Speaker stopped American relief for 5 days demanding hundreds of millions of dollars in pork.

Our member of Congress always supports the Speaker and votes as she directs. I won’t.

As we solve problems together, civility will return. Please stay safe.

3-23 China Lied; People Died

Audio Transcript:

I am Dr. Peter Theron.
I am running for Congress to solve problems and restore civility.

This year we are learning hard lessons about government-run health care.
The 2002 SARS epidemic began in China’s exotic-animal slaughter-markets. Although China promised to close these wet markets, it never did. So, in 2019 that’s where the Chinese CoronaVirus pandemic started. Then China hid the truth and spread falsehoods.

China lied; people died.

This pandemic has revealed that government-run health care is risky, inefficient, and unaccountable. We deserve patient-centered medicine, where doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals put patients first.

Medicare-for-all would be government-run health care.
Our member of Congress supports it. I do not.

As we solve problems together, civility will return. Work with me.

3-17 Civility

Audio Transcript:

I am Dr. Peter Theron.
I am running for Congress to solve problems and restore civility.

What happened to civility?

Civility is restraint, tolerance, and orderliness.
Religion, culture, philosophies, institutions, the Constitution, and laws guide civility.

Politicians are squabbling children. The media’s misleading headlines, shallow reporting, and politicized coverage have failed us.

It’s only citizens that can restore civility to public life. That’s why I’m running.

By tolerating each other and our differences, by working together, by getting to know each other, and by insisting on civil harmony, we will reduce rancor.

When Americans are confronted with a life-threatening crisis, such as the Wuhan Flu pandemic, we unite to overcome it.

As we solve problems together, civility will return. Work with me. Please!

3-10 Wuhan Flu

Audio Transcript:

Coronavirus COVID-19 is now world-wide. Some countries like China and Iran have had many fatalities.

Initially, the Chinese suppressed warnings. They did not act soon enough.

By contrast, the Trump administration quickly declared a public-health emergency. Flight suspensions and quarantines slowed the virus, lowering its infection peak. Infection peaks must stay below our health-care capacity.

Our interconnected world requires we quickly respond to pandemics and drug-resistant pathogens. Congress should form a Joint Committee on Medical Threats to learn from the past and prepare for the future.

Ebola and coronavirus are warnings. The next Congress must act.

As we solve problems together, civility will return. Join me.

3-3 Introduction

Audio Transcript:

I am Peter Theron.
I am running for Congress to solve problems and restore civility.

People worry that impeachment, other partisan politics, and name-calling have frayed our civil society, allowing our underlying problems to fester. I believe, if we work together to solve real problems, our country will begin to heal.

I live in Madison and teach mathematics, and statistics.
I am married to a wonderful woman, who luckily likes math too.

My BA in statistics comes from Princeton University and my PhD in Mathematics from UW here in Madison. And, I love Wisconsin!

In the last 4 years our economy has boomed raising incomes especially among our poorest. Iran is weakened, ISIS is defeated, our military is strong again, and much more. Our President has done a great job.

However on Capitol Hill, Congress isn’t pulling its weight.
I want to change that.

As we solve problems together, civility will return. Join me.
